‘Goodnight Moon,’ published by Margaret Wise Brown in 1947 with illustrations by Clement Hurd, has long been a staple of bedtime reading for young children.
And now Brown’s own story is set to arrive on screens, as Deadline brings word that Elle Fanning and Julianne Moore are starring in ‘Moonsong: A Life In Seven Verses.’

Rebecca Miller (‘Maggie’s Plan’) is writing and directing the new biopic, with Martin Scorsese aboard as executive producer after the two formed a friendship via Miller making the ‘Mr. Scorsese’ documentary about her fellow filmmaker.

‘Moonsong’ is based on the book ‘Margaret Wise Brown: Awakened by the Moon’ by Leonard S. Marcus and tells the story of beloved children’s book author Brown, whose classic books include ‘Goodnight Moon’ and ‘The Runaway Bunny’.
Given the title “the laureate of the nursery,” Brown’s impact is still felt decades after, with her books being read before bed and in classrooms around the world.
