Kith is going right back where it started for its 15th anniversary, as it revives its first-ever shoe release and what remains one of the most heralded designs in its history.

The Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel-Lyte 3 “Salmon Toe Remastered” brings back the original color-blocking for the first time while upgrading the material in one key area and adding commemorative iconography. Synthetic suede was used on the pink toe tip in 2011, but the shoe now features the real thing in order to avoid wrinkling and folding.

New asymmetrical Fieg and Asics branding features on the tongue and mustache, the former of which appears in the latter’s signature font, and a special Kith 15th anniversary graphic graces the insole.

Although it was technically a Ronnie Fieg collaboration rather than Kith, continuing his Asics series that he started while working at David Z, the release OG Gel-Lyte 3 “Salmon Toe” was pegged to Kith’s first store opening. For the brand and boutique’s fifth anniversary, the shoe was brought back with a navy midsole that had appeared in sampling rounds for the 2011 sneaker. 10th anniversary celebrations then transferred the “Salmon Toe” theme over to the Gel-Lyte 5.

Kith has also worked with Assouline to create a massive compendium of its footwear collaborations over the year. A total of 1,848 shoes appear in “Kith: The Footwear Archive,” 776 of which actually released and another 1,072 that constitute prototypes and friends-and-family exclusives.

Each of those shoes is on display for an exhibition at Kith’s New York City headquarters open to the public through Sunday.
