Breeze Airways’ first passenger-carrying flight took place five years ago, in May 2021. Since then, the US Department of Transportation shows that more than 15 million passengers have been transported. Last year, one in every 135 domestic passengers flew it.
Some 77.3% of seats were filled in 2025, which was marginally lower than the country’s domestic average (81.8%). Breeze’s considerable focus on local traffic on typically brand-new routes was partly responsible. Despite using comparatively small aircraft and usually having low frequencies, its load was relatively low in itself, compared to other US airlines and when related to budget or hybrid operators elsewhere in the world.
Breeze Has Ended These Nine Routes
Using the airline’s schedule submission to OAG to compare its full network in Q2 and Q3 2025 (April-September) with what’s available in the same months in 2026 shows that nine routes have ended. No other time period is considered. Wider context is critical. In the same period, Avelo Airlines has ceased 45 routes, while Breeze has introduced or resumed 79 airport pairs. The airline is renowned for introducing many routes.
Breeze no longer serves Raleigh/Durham to
Los Angeles (flights ended in January 2026), Greenville/Spartanburg to Westchester (ceased in September 2025), Akron/Canton to Los Angeles (ended in August 2025), Huntsville to Los Angeles (ceased in September 2025), Norfolk to Syracuse (ended in September 2025), Tampa to John Wayne/Orange County (ceased in August 2025), Stewart to Vero Beach (ceased in May 2025), Orlando to Plattsburgh (ended in April 2025), and Louisville to New Orleans (see below).
Covering 539 nautical miles (998 km) each way, the route between Derby City and The Big Easy is noteworthy. With the first service in July 2021, it was among Breeze’s very early markets. Flights existed through April 2025, when the route ended.

Breezing Between Tampa And Orange County
Orange County’s slot restrictions and passenger capacity limitations are renowned. Naturally, this constrains the number of flights and overall growth. But it is not just that. Its very short runway, at just 5,700 feet (1,737 meters), is also a limit, at least on longer services with larger aircraft and higher payloads.
Breeze’s first route to the Southern California airport took place in February 2023, when it debuted from both Orlando and Provo. Since then, nine other markets have launched or will do so: Cincinnati, Columbus, Grand Junction, Las Vegas, Montrose, Ogden, Pittsburgh, Raleigh/Durham, and Tampa. In the second-half of 2026, only seven airports will be served: Columbus, Grand Junction, Las Vegas, Ogden, Orlando, Provo, and Raleigh/Durham.

Breeze Airways & JetBlue Launch 15 Exciting New Routes [Full List]
The end of Spirit has left a void, but other carriers like Breeze and JetBlue are quickly stepping in. Check out where they’ll fly now!
Tampa was part of Breeze’s Orange County network between May 2024 and August 2025. Only 44 round-trip flights existed. In the final month, MX532 left Florida at 9:56 AM and arrived in California at 12:08 PM. Returning, MX533 departed at 12:53 PM and got back to Tampa at 8:44 PM.
This schedule, like so many of the airline’s transcontinental routes, was timed like that because the operating aircraft was not based in Tampa. The A220-300 began and ended the day at Hartford. The first leg left Connecticut at 6:00 AM, while the final leg arrived home at 12:19 AM the next day. While only four sectors operated in 24 hours, the number of block hours was considerable compared to its usual offering.
A Look At Raleigh/Durham To Los Angeles
As you’d expect, Raleigh/Durham (which is now Breeze’s most-served airport) to Los Angeles International is a very popular market. When all airlines are considered, the DOT shows that 291,615 passengers traveled in 2025 (799 daily). This was the second most-trafficked year to date, behind only 2018 (301,436 passengers; 826 daily). When all Greater Los Angeles airports are included, Raleigh/Durham had 395,490 passengers last year (1,084 daily).
Breeze operated from North Carolina to California between May 2023 and January 2026. In this period, the carrier transported 49,011 round-trip passengers. The sheer market size, along with Breeze’s low frequencies, meant it only had 7.8% of the market.
It was the third-largest operator, after Delta (50.6%) and American (41.4%). Both operators continue to fly nonstop, while many passengers connect at their respective hubs. In the final 12 months, Breeze filled 82.1% of the available seats, which was above the airline’s system average. This provides a reminder that loads are just one measure and should not be considered in isolation.
