Up To 25-Hour Flights: The Airbus A380’s 10 Extremely Long Routes In 2026 [Map]

The Airbus A380 is the only full-length double-decker aircraft, and continues to be an integral part of a small group of highly popular, long-haul International routes. The A380 is loved by both airlines and passengers due to its exceptionally quiet cabin and unrivalled passenger space onboard.

Its double-deck design has been able to reduce felt turbulence and overall engine noise, and for some carriers enabled them to include luxury amenities, such as Emirates with its onboard bar and showers. This article will look at the the aircraft type’s longest routes, both non-stop and with a stop. The top ten routes include airlines Qantas, Emirates, and Korean Air. Data has been sourced from Cirium, an online aviation analytics company.

Australian flag carrier Qantas operates the longest route with the A380, on its Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) service to the British capital. Its flight to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) operates with a stop in Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), and its total flight time racks up an impressive 25 hours and 30 minutes. The route is served daily and operates under the airline’s flagship flight number QF1.

The airline’s 2nd longest A380 route, and 5th longest in this analysis of the world’s longest A380 routes across all airlines, is that of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Sydney. This service’s total flight time reaches around 17h and 25 minutes.

In ninth place overall, and third for Qantas, is its flight between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Melbourne Airport (MEL). This route will sadly stop seeing the A380 from October as it is transitioned to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner; however, its total flight time accumulates to 15h 55 minutes. Given Australia’s isolated geographical location, it is no surprise to see the airline having some of the longest A380 routes in the world.

It’s no surprise to see Emirates in this analysis, as the world’s largest operator of the A380 with more than 100 in service. The airline’s longest A380 route is that of Christchurch Airport (CHC) to Dubai International Airport (DXB) and sits in 2nd place in the overall analysis. This route is operated with a stop in Sydney, where the airline has fifth-freedom privileges, meaning it can sell the CHC-SYD route separately. This service is the longest A380 route in the airline’s network and has a total flight time of 19 hours, 55 minutes.

Dubai to New York JFK Airport (JFK) via Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) is the second-longest A380 service for EK and 3rd overall, with this route taking a total flight time of 18 hours and 50 minutes. The third longest flight for EK and fourth overall is the longest non-stop A380 currently in operation, which is the non-stop link from Auckland Airport (AKL) to Dubai at 17 hours and 30 minutes.
