In an era dominated by Marvel movies and their iconic post-credit scenes hinting at the next major event in the franchise, it’s fair to wonder if the first Star Wars film in seven years might have one of its own. The Mandalorian and Grogu serves as the perfect theatrical gateway into the “Mandoverse” era, a budding timeline set between the original and sequel trilogies. As the movie that officially brings the Mandoverse to theaters, it’s practically begging for a post-credit scene to reveal what comes next either on the big screen or back on Disney Plus in Ahsoka season 2.

The closest post-credit scene Star Wars has ever gotten was in the 1999 theatrical release of The Phantom Menace, which rolled credits on a black screen accompanied by Darth Vader’s iconic wheezing. The second most notable after-credits Star Wars event is the touching in-memoriam tribute to Carrie Fisher at the tail end of The Last Jedi. No other Star Wars film has had a post-credit scene, which is reportedly because both George Lucas and J.J. Abrams disliked them.
While the films might not have had them, some of the Disney Plus Star Wars spin-off TV shows have episodes with post-credit sequences, like The Book of Boba Fett and Andor. For the most part, though, Star Wars isn’t a franchise accustomed to post-credit scenes, and there was little hope that The Mandalorian and Grogu would get any given the state of the franchise and its upcoming slate. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dave Filoni’s Mandoverse crossover film and the fourth season of The Mandalorian are up in the clouds, while the second season of Ahsoka was pushed out to 2027.
Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter, the next feature film in the Star Wars franchise, is set five years after The Rise of Skywalker, so the setting doesn’t lend itself to a direct post-credit tie-in to a New Republic era movie. Levy’s film is set to follow an ace pilot mentoring a younger Force-sensitive character as they’re chased through the galaxy by a new Dark-side-wielding foe. It pulls together a fantastic cast, including Ryan Gosling, Amy Adams, and Matt Smith, and is set to debut in May 2027.
