Delta Air Lines is giving Scotland supporters a send-off to remember at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) as the Tartan Army prepares to move south for the next stage of its World Cup journey. Following Scotland’s two matches in Boston, the airline is turning selected flights from Boston to Miami and Fort Lauderdale into a Scottish-themed celebration, complete with priority boarding for some of the country’s most recognizable traveling fans.

From Saturday, June 20, through the morning of Wednesday, June 24, passengers wearing kilts or traveling with bagpipes will receive priority boarding on Delta flights from Boston to either Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The promotion is part practical, part playful: it recognizes the huge presence of Scottish supporters in Boston over the past few weeks, while also helping travelers carrying delicate wooden instruments secure overhead bin space before departure.

Delta Gives Scotland Fans A Proper Send-Off

The initiative applies to Delta’s Boston departures bound for Miami International Airport (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), ahead of Scotland’s next World Cup match in South Florida. The airline says all customers wearing kilts or traveling with bagpipes will be invited to board early, turning a standard domestic boarding process into a nod to one of football’s most famous traveling fan groups.

In a note to Simple Flying, Delta’s communication team said the following:

“As you most likely already know, bagpipe owners are known to heavily prefer that their wooden instruments are with them as a carry-on, so priority boarding will provide them with an adequate opportunity to secure overhead bin space.”

Delta also notes that customers may bring one carry-on bag and one personal item onboard for free. That matters here because bagpipes are not exactly the easiest instrument to check, and many owners prefer to keep them close rather than risk damage in the hold. For Scotland fans making the trip from Boston to Florida, priority boarding offers both a practical benefit and a memorable travel moment.

But Delta is also making it bigger than that, building a broader gate experience around the activation. On Saturday and Sunday, travelers on every flight to South Florida can expect live Scottish ambiance with bagpipe music, a Delta team member in a kilt welcoming passengers, shortbread cookies, and specialty beverages and mocktails. Eligible SkyMiles Medallion Members with Delta Sky Club access will also be able to choose from Scottish-inspired cocktails or a non-alcoholic specialty drink.

Scotland’s Traveling Support Is Moving From Boston To Florida

The activation follows a week in which Scotland supporters became one of the most visible fan groups at the 2026 World Cup. The Tartan Army, as the national team’s traveling supporters are known, has been a major presence around Boston during Scotland’s Group C campaign, filling bars, public spaces, and match day gatherings with kilts, flags, and bagpipes.

“We count ourselves as among the most passionate and crazy sports fans anywhere in the world. So, to ​see that same level of commitment and dedication from the Tartan Army, well that truly earns our love and respect.”

Delta’s timing is no accident. Scotland’s first two group-stage matches were in the Boston area, but the team’s final Group C game takes place in South Florida. That has created a clear travel corridor from Boston to Miami and Fort Lauderdale, with fans moving between host cities in the middle of the tournament.

For Delta, this is the sort of event-driven travel pattern that airlines love to capture.
