“We take your feedback to heart” – Game Freak promises to improve Beast of Reincarnation following a divisive launch

Beast of Reincarnation is out but hasn’t quite made the splash you might expect from Game Freak’s first original project in years. The long-time Pokémon developer isn’t moving on, however, and is promising to deliver a series of updates to improve the game.

In a message on X, Game Freak highlighted a number of fixes and changes the action role-playing game is getting in the next patch, which is set for release sometime next week.

Some of the changes you can expect include tweaks to the game’s camera, increasing the text size, making Performance mode the default over Cinematic mode on consoles, and bug fixes. Game Freak is also looking to improve the pacing of the game’s story, and the first alteration in this regard – of what seems to be a longer-term project – will arrive with the coming patch.

The developer also posted a link to a survey to gather more feedback from players.

Matt Wales awarded Beast of Reincarnation three stars in Eurogamer’s review. “If it wasn’t already obvious,” Matt wrote, “I have some very conflicting feelings about Beast of Reincarnation. There are moments it’s glorious… But there are just as many moments it feels aggravating, unfinished, and, worse, dull.”

That divisive response seems to have carried over to platforms like Steam, where Beast of Reincarnation has a Mixed review rating, a common complaint being the game’s apparent lack of polish.
