Ulrich Bindseil Joins Frankfurt School as Professor of Practice in Financial Infrastructure


Frankfurt School of Finance & Management welcomes Professor Ulrich Bindseil from Technische Universität Berlin to bolster its Centres for Digital Economics and Central Banking from September 1, 2026. Bindseil, an expert in central banking and financial infrastructures, will enhance research and education, focusing on payments and monetary innovations like stablecoins and digital currencies.


Frankfurt School of Finance & Management has appointed Ulrich Bindseil as a Professor of Practice in Financial Infrastructure, effective 1 September 2026. Bindseil, a distinguished figure in central banking and financial market infrastructure, is transitioning from the Technische Universität Berlin to strengthen the Economics & Law Department at Frankfurt School.

His expertise encompasses payment infrastructures, cross-border transactions, and innovations in currency forms—including stablecoins and central bank digital currencies. This appointment is set to enhance both research and teaching initiatives in the Centre for Digital Economics (C4DE) and the Centre for Central Banking.

Markus Reisinger, Head of the Economics & Law Department, expressed enthusiasm about Bindseil’s arrival, underscoring his extensive background in the digital economy and financial technologies. “He is a perfect fit for our department and the Frankfurt School at large,” Reisinger stated.

Co-Pierre Georg, Director of the Centre for Digital Economics, remarked on the timely nature of Bindseil’s expertise, noting it aligns with the ongoing transformation of financial market infrastructures driven by new technologies.

Recognized for his international leadership in monetary policy and regulatory frameworks, Bindseil previously served in key positions at the European Central Bank (ECB) and is also a respected author in the field.

“I am delighted to join Frankfurt School, where I can help bridge central banking with digital innovations,” said Bindseil, highlighting the school’s unique positioning during this pivotal growth phase in financial technologies.
