Tyler Duckworth, ‘The Challenge’ star and reality TV veteran, dies at 44



Tyler Duckworth, the reality TV veteran who competed on MTV’s “The Challenge” and appeared on “The Real World: Key West,” has died, police said on Friday. He was 44.

A spokesperson for the Grand Forks Police Department confirmed in a phone call that Duckworth was found dead in his home in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Tuesday.

Police said he was found after they were called for a welfare check.

Representatives for Duckworth did not immediately return a request for comment.

Duckworth was a cast member on MTV”s “The Real World: Key West” in 2006, which led to his best known appearances on “The Challenge.”

He competed on four seasons of MTV’s reality competition series between 2006 and 2011, two of which he won. Duckworth also competed in two seasons of the “The Challenge: All Stars” in 2021 and 2022.

Duckworth’s death comes just weeks after he appeared at The Challenge Mania event in Minneapolis. The reality star posted images from the event on Instagram alongside fellow alumni of “The Challenge.”

“So proud to represent my hometown of Minneapolis along with these other challenge legends,” he wrote in the post. “The fans are what keep us coming out! Hearing your stories of courage, inspiration & joy that you’ve got being a fan of the franchise is humbling each and every time.”

Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio, reality TV stalwart and former star of “The Challenge,” took to X and posted “When it rains it pours” along with broken heart and duck emojis.

Wes Bergmann, another competitor from “The Challenge,” wrote on X: “Tyler was a remarkable man and a great friend to many. He made fantastic television. He was a great challenger. He was a very good swimmer. And eater. This is a really tough loss. Call your friends people.”
