This Alabama football defender has inside scoop on Will Stein’s Kentucky

Terrance Green knows what Alabama football needs to continue to do up front in Week 2. The Crimson Tide must continue to improve its pass rush. It must get sacks and force turnovers.

But stopping the run, Green said, is imperative heading into Week 2 against Kentucky. And Green would know.

Green spent his first three seasons at Oregon playing against Will Stein’s offense. Stein is now the Wildcats’ head coach after three seasons as the Ducks’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

“I kind of know what he wants to do,” Green said. “I know he’s probably going to change it up, but I was with coach Stein for two, three years there. Just going against that every day, going against great O-linemen will help a lot.”

Green said he expects Kentucky’s share of trick plays meant to confuse defenders, ones to make them “move and think and communicate” on the fly.

Alabama safety Bray Hubbard doesn’t know Stein, but he knows Joe Sloan: Kentucky’s offensive coordinator, who held the same role for the past two years at LSU. Hubbard expects “perimeter stuff” and screens, just like Sloan ran at LSU.

Alabama plays Kentucky at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 on ABC.
