no lol, I was being hyperbolic partly, though it does reflect how I feel about the series over the decades, loosely.

honestly, it’s more the level design and how it relates to the powerups than the powerups themselves, if I really think about it.

Generally, I miss when powerups were just kind of there, and it was up to the player to figure out how to use them. Starting with Yoshi’s Island and continuing in 64 and through to the present day, the powerups are just kind of like part of the level, more of a “ride” than a buff, if that makes any sense.

anyway, I’m always kind of hoping someone will challenge me on my ludicrous statements (call it baiting if you will, I just like to be brutally honest as a shortcut to thoughtful exchange, id say) and I’m glad you did! I like some of the ones you mentioned just fine, certainly they are “not not good” especially compared to the bees and elephants etc 😂 but I do think mushroom, flower, feather was a great set of mario powerups and hasnt been beat yet 👍
