ArenaNet has revealed the lead composer for its upcoming MMORPG Guild Wars 3. Kazuma Jinnouchi, known for his work on Star Wars, Metal Gear, and post-Bungie Halo games, is collaborating on the soundtrack.
As part of this announcement, the studio released a video detailing how the main theme of Guild Wars 3 was created. In it, we can see Jinnouchi and the audio team create the song, which you can find below.
Jinnouchi is joined by some noteworthy contributing composers, such as Asuka Ito of Rhythm Heaven and PilotWings fame, and longtime Guild Wars 2 composer Maclaine Diemer. The video detailing the creation of the main theme also features insight from ArenaNet audio lead Chase Thompson and music lead Nadia Wheaton.
There’s plenty in the video that should interest Guild Wars fans, but one thing that’s particularly intriguing is an early note of “respecting the legacy” as Thompson puts it. The music we hear is very orchestral and melodic, fitting nicely with the grand orchestral tracks that fans of the past two games fell in love with.
This update marks yet another little information burst from ArenaNet, which has been sprinkling out new information ever since its reveal at Summer Game Fest earlier this year. Only recently, we got more details about the game’s narrative, which hints at how magic could work in the game.
