Belgium will need to break a seemingly impenetrable Spanish defense if it’s to reach the 2026 World Cup semifinals. It looks set to be an absorbing last-eight clash between the two European powerhouses today in Los Angeles.

While the Spanish haven’t been at their very best, particularly during the early stages of this World Cup, La Roja nevertheless boasts the best defensive record of any team remaining in the tournament. Luis de la Fuente’s squad has yet to concede a single goal. Monday’s tense 1-0 win over Portugal in the round of 16, meanwhile, means Spain’s impressive unbeaten streak now totals 35 straight games.

Belgium has improved as the tournament has progressed and showed plenty of determination to thrash the USA 4-1 in its round-of-16 match on Tuesday. The task in front of Rudi Garcia’s side today is nevertheless a formidable one, with the Red Devils having failed to beat Spain in their last 11 meetings across all competitions.

Spain takes on Belgium in this quarterfinal match on Friday at Los Angeles Stadium (aka SoFi Stadium) in Inglewood, California, with kickoff set for 12 p.m. PT. That makes it a 3 p.m. ET start on the East Coast in the US and Canada, and an 8 p.m. BST start in the UK. For those watching in Australia, it’s a 5 a.m. AEST kickoff on Saturday morning.
