S&P/TSX composite down more than 150 points, U.S. stock markets also lower



TORONTO — Canada’s main stock index was down more than 150 points in late-morning trading, weighed down by losses in the technology and base metals sectors, while U.S. stock markets also traded lower.
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 157.

TORONTO — Canada’s main stock index was down more than 150 points in late-morning trading, weighed down by losses in the technology and base metals sectors, while U.S. stock markets also traded lower.

The S&P/TSX composite index was down 157.15 points at 35,012.31.

In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 384.75 points at 50,923.04. The S&P 500 index was down 32.39 points at 7,577.39, while the Nasdaq composite was down 161.74 points at 26,932.16.

The Canadian dollar traded for 72.03 cents US compared with 72.29 cents US on Tuesday.

The July crude oil contract was up US$1.95 at US$95.71 per barrel.

The August gold contract was down US$43.40 at US$4,476.50 an ounce.
