Summary: My husband and I added Silk & Snow’s new Aire Modular Couch to our new condo about one month ago. I instantly fell in love with this couch’s modern silhouette and functionality. It’s easy to assemble, easy to care for, and can handle the ups and downs of daily use without the toxic downsides of conventional couches. Comfortable, practical, and safe, all while looking good!
What I Love About Silk & Snow’s Modular Couch:
- This couch is the epitome of affordable luxury — the cushions are thick and luxurious, it’s elegant, and it comes at a fair cost ($1300)
- It feels good to own a cloud-like couch that also meets sustainable, nontoxic standards like OEKO-TEX and PFAS-free.
- I love the PFAS-free stain-resistant features. It makes it so easy to clean this couch with gentle soaps, even when a stain of mysterious origin appears overnight.
- The modular nature of the couch also lets it grow with you, giving you endless options.
Things To Keep In Mind:
- Tiny specks of dust and hair get stuck on it over time, as is to be expected with upholstered fabric, but they’re not too noticeable and are relatively easy to remove.
- Imprints can show up when you sit on the couch for extended periods, but they go away with a simple pat-down of the cushion.

If I had to pick the most important piece of furniture in my home, I would without hesitation pick the couch. It’s truly “the center of the home” for me, a place where I can relax and lounge, catch up with my partner, get some writing done, share a cup of tea with a friend, and offer up as an extra space whenever guests stay the night. It’s a focal point of the home and a critical design choice that sets the tone of the space. And with that many hours spent on the couch, it’s important that our investment pays off in more than just looks, but also comfort, safety, practicality, and longevity.

With so many couch options out there, how can we select the best one for us? While it’s easy to focus on looks and cost at first, what feels like a good, smart choice now can lead to cheaply made couches with toxic chemicals that do more harm than good. Many couches use harmful flame retardants and finishes that leech VOCs into the air and wreak havoc on our health. Cheaply made couches are also prone to sinking and simply don’t last.
But how do we find a couch made with high-quality materials that’ll last and stay supportive, but is also gentle on our wallet? Bonus if the couch is also aesthetically pleasing and is easy to clean. I always thought that this was too much to expect of a couch, but I was proven wrong when I found out my favorite mattress brand Silk & Snow, has a couch collection. Enter the Aire Modular Couch!

This thoughtful approach extends seamlessly into Silk & Snow’s newest launch: The Aire Modular Couch Collection. Designed with stain-resistant, PFAS-free upholstery, built for endless configuration, and OEKO-TEX certified safe for human health and the environment, this couch is as versatile as it is eco-conscious. Each piece features down-alternative fill and removable covers for effortless care, all backed by ethical sourcing and safe, sustainable production.
Couch options & selection process
When it came time to choose a couch option, the choices seemed endless! Available in four natural-toned earthy shades (Ivory White, Soft Cream, Warm Taupe, and Desert Sand), two depth options (Regular and Deluxe), and six width options, it was a tough call. Don’t even get me started on the number of couch and sectional configurations that are available. From your classic couch set to L-shaped, U-shaped, and seating ranging from a single couch to an 8-seater, there’s a couch for you.
“My partner and I decided to go for the two-seater Aire couch in the regular depth and the 75.5” width as it works with our space while giving us enough wiggle room for more decor add-ons in the future.”
Size was a big factor in our selection process, as our living room is just shy of 200 square feet. My partner and I decided to go for the two-seater Aire couch in the regular depth and the 75.5” width, as it works with our space while giving us enough wiggle room for more decor add-ons in the future. The great thing is, when we do upgrade to a bigger home, the Aire couch can easily grow with us. The modular design makes it effortless to add on additional seating so we can curate our space to best suit us as our needs change. You can even add an ottoman to create a sectional-style couch — the ultimate cozy setup!
As for color, my initial feeling was to go with one of the warm shades, since a couch where I’d be spending so much time lounging and likely sipping my daily matcha might not mesh well with the striking tone of white or cream. Silk & Snow, however, emphasizes that the Aire couch is made specially with a PFAS-free, durable, stain-resistant, and removable upholstery fabric for carefree cleaning. I’ve also always dreamed of having a cream cloud-like couch in my home, as I find myself constantly pinning those styles to my Pinterest board. Finally owning a cloud-like couch that also meets sustainable and nontoxic standards like OEKO-TEX and PFAS-free is a dream. So the decision was made. My Aire Modular Couch 2-seater in Soft Cream was on its way.
Delivery & unboxing
Shipping was effortless, as it always has been with Silk & Snow’s delivery process. I received my order in recyclable boxes the next day, similar to my Silk & Snow Organic Mattress, with the packages arriving right to my door. Though delivery personnel are normally instructed to leave packages right outside the door, the two delivery people were kind enough to leave all the boxes in our entryway. Each box fit through our door with ease, thanks to the couch’s modular design, which lets it ship in parts. No pivoting needed if you have to pass the couch through a tight corner or up a stairwell.

As expected, each box is quite heavy. While I think I could have pushed each box where I needed it to go, having my partner help carry each package to the living room was definitely a relief.

Setting up our new Aire couch was relatively intuitive. An instruction booklet is included in the package, plus you can find an assembly video on the product page if you’re a visual learner. Silk & Snow includes all the tools you’ll need to put the couch together. I love that they also include felt pads that you can stick onto the bottom of each unit to protect your floors. How thoughtful!

One thing to note: we couldn’t figure out at first how to attach the armrests to the seat—we didn’t realize the armrest hardware was in the underside compartment of the arm! There are separate instructions for attaching the armrest to the couch, so be sure to flip through the whole instruction booklet, as different instructions apply to your Aire couch unit depending on which configuration you order. Even with the slight hiccup, we still had our Aire couch up and running in just under 30 minutes.

Once everything was set up, I couldn’t help but rejoice. The couch looked beautiful! No off-gassing smells, clean lines, and an inviting, cozy structure had me climbing onto the Aire couch as fast as I could.
My 30-day experience with Silk & Snow’s modular couch
The first thing I noticed about our new Aire couch is how thick and durable the stain-resistant upholstery fabric felt. It’s soft, luxurious, and comfy without sacrificing practicality. The cushions are also substantial and stay put right where you place them. Silk & Snow uses kiln-dried wood for the couch frame, plus PFAS-free, TCSA-compliant fabric and foam. It even has sag-resistant springs for extra support. The combination of these materials creates a comfy, supportive lounging experience every time I sit on the couch.
“Silk & Snow uses a kiln-dried wood construction for the frame of the couch, and a PFAS-free TCSA-compliant fabric and foam.”
Even though I chose the regular depth, these cushions are very generous! They’re wide and deep enough for me to sit cross-legged on the couch. The deluxe depth definitely offers more leg room, but if you need to save space or money, the regular seating depth is plenty too.

When it comes to caring for and maintaining the couch, it does tend to attract little specks of dust and hair, as is to be expected of an upholstered fabric. These little specks weren’t too noticeable; you’d definitely have to have a keen eye to take notice! I used a lint roller to clean the couch; however, I had to tweeze out the more deeply embedded hairs. If your vacuum has an upholstery attachment, it should take care of this.

There was also a mysterious spot that appeared on the side of the armrest one day, which was strange as we never ate on the couch. I was planning to tackle this over the weekend, but before then, my partner had an ice pack leak onto the couch, so he decided to clean the couch himself. He noted that the gel never seeped into the couch (it is stain-resistant!) and was able to remove both messes by dabbing the couch with a mixture of Oxyclean and water. Our couch looked brand new, with the spot actually looking even lighter than before. Safe to say, some gentle dish soap and water should be enough to remove stains before resorting to the tough stuff!

The couch also keeps its shape — no sagging in sight. I did notice that if I sit on the couch for a long time, a small imprint can be seen where I sat — but it quickly goes away with a gentle pat down of the cushion. The couch cushions always return to their normal shape, ready to get comfy in and enjoy, even with me using it daily! I also love that the armrests are rectangular — it makes it so easy to place a remote, book, or snack plate on them. When living in a small space, every inch of space counts, and I appreciate that this feature gives us extra surfaces to place things on when we need to!

Is Silk & Snow’s modular couch worth it?
100% yes. The stunning, cloud-like design, combined with the ability to have a cream couch that can handle the realities of daily living, feels special. If you’re someone who loves neutral, earthy tones, an elegant yet comfy vibe, and also spends lots of time on the couch, the Aire Couch truly is a no-brainer. It’s beautiful, practical, easy to maintain, resilient, and supportive.

The Aire Couch we chose will run you $1300, which I find fair for its quality and sustainable safety features. Silk & Snow also offers a 30-night risk-free trial and a 5-year warranty, so you can feel confident about your investment. I’m already looking into adding on the Ottoman and the Arm Pillow Set for an even cozier experience at home. Knowing this couch will grow with me over time makes it truly worth the investment, should my space needs change in the future. Silk & Snow has truly outdone themselves again.
