Moving is always chaotic, a little emotional, and apparently, very expensive. After weeks of cardboard boxes, furniture delivery windows, and trying to convince myself that unpacking counts as a cardio workout, I’ve finally reached the fun part: making my new apartment feel like home. After moving into a beautiful two-bedroom condo in my favorite Brooklyn neighborhood, I’ve taken up the full-time job of transforming my new space into a forever home.

Although I moved nearly 2 months ago, I wanted to wait until the sale season rolled around thanks to major on-sale home items due to Memorial Day Weekend Sales. Some of my favorite brands I’ve been eyeing—Sundays Furniture, Lulu & Georgia, Pottery Barn, Design Within Reach, and more—are offering major discounts on big-ticket items like sofas and couches, while little touches like sleek ottomans and vases are also on-sale. In furnishing my new apartment, I’ve realized a polished space doesn’t necessarily come from buying the most expensive things. It’s about finding pieces with great shape, texture, and detail—whether that’s a sculptural lamp, hotel-worthy bedding, oversized mirrors, or chic storage that hides the clutter.
