  • Marvel has yet to confirm the news.
  • Jake Schreier is directing the movie.

While Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige stayed resolutely silent on the Comic-Con stage about developments on the ‘X-Men’ movie in development, it appears we now know one of the characters that will appear in the film, as Deadline reports that ‘Ready or Not’ star Samara Weaving is now on board as Emma Frost.

The trade site makes mention of Weaving having met with Feige and director Jake Schreier (who previously handled ‘Thunderbolts*’ for the company and scoring the role shortly thereafter.

Created by writer Chris Claremont and artist/co-writer John Byrne, the character first appeared in “The Uncanny X-Men #129” (January 1980). Her mutation grants her high-level telepathic abilities and the power to turn into organic diamond.

Emma Frost has evolved from a supervillain and foe of the X-Men to becoming a superhero and one of the team’s most central members and leaders.

She has appeared in a variety of animated series and was previously played in live-action form on screen in ‘X-Men: First Class’ by January Jones and was very much a conflicted, powerful antagonist there.

What else do we know about the ‘X-Men’ movie?

Marvel is staying very quiet on this one, for obvious spoiler reasons, but with D23 coming up, chances are we’ll learn more about who else is going to be part of the cast, aside from what has already been confirmed, but we’re not getting into that whole web of information.
