Earlier this month, Salomon made the move to extend its XT family of sneakers through a special capsule with Kith.
Now, just a few weeks later, the French mountain sports brand said it’s set to release the silhouette in new colorways as part of its main collection. The shoe, which is an update from Salomon’s popular XT-6 model, takes inspiration from racing and delivers a new sneaker that introduces a reworked upper with sharper proportions, more layering, and flowing lines that aim to “create a dynamic sense of movement from every angle,” the company said.
Featured in a classic red, black, and gray palette, the launch colorways pay homage to one of the original XT-6 colorways. And while the signature jumbo mesh aim to preserve a defining element of the XT lineage, newly developed liquid rubber overlays add texture to the new silhouette.
The shoe also features Salomon’s “Agile Chassis System,” which delivers stability, cushioning, durability, and confident control across changing terrain, the company said.
Originally launched as a trail-runner in 2013, the XT-6 has been the most popular model of Salomon’s ascent in lifestyle over this decade. The S/Lab team for elite performance created the shoe for endurance racing, and its chassis aids in stability on rugged terrain while sitting in between two differing densities of EVA cushioning.

This launch comes at an action-packed time of growth for Salomon. In July, the brand officially launched an edited selection of sneakers at a select number of Foot Locker stores in key markets as well as on the retailer’s e-commerce site. These models included the Salomon XT-6, XT-6 GTX and XT-Whisper silhouettes.
Salomon also opened the doors to its fourth New York City store in July in the Flatiron neighborhood of Manhattan. Located at 141 Fifth Avenue, the new 4,390-square-foot store joins the brand’s other shops across the city in SoHo, Williamsburg and the Upper West Side. The company also has an outpost at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets just north of the city.
The new XT-Evo, which retails for $190, will be available globally through Salomon.com beginning Sept. 2.
