It’s officially official now: Russell Wilson has retired after 14 seasons in the NFL.
Reports emerged earlier this week that Wilson planned to hang up his cleats and transition to commentary, joining “The NFL Today” on CBS Sports, replacing Matt Ryan. Wilson, 37, officially confirmed the news on Wednesday by publishing a video of his love letter to football.

“Thank You, Football. Love, #3,” Wilson captioned his post on social media. You can watch the full three-minute and 15-second video below:
Wilson, a 10-time Pro Bowler and one-time Super Bowl champion, went 104-53-1 as a starter with the Seattle Seahawks before being traded to the Denver Broncos. He went 11-19 as a starter with the Broncos before the team moved on and replaced him with Bo Nix in 2024. Wilson played with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2024) and New York Giants (2025) to close out his career.
Wilson totaled 46,966 passing yards, 353 passing touchdowns, 5,568 rushing yards and 31 scores on the ground while playing with four NFL teams from 2012-2025.
