Rising Gas Prices Hit Americans Again But This Time It’s Different


Average pump prices rose more than 50% in the months after the US and Israel attacked Iran, peaking at $4.56 a gallon in May, according to the American Automobile Association. Around that time, Americans had been getting tax refunds that were fattened up by Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The average check this year rose 11.5% to $3,276, Internal Revenue Service data show.
