Ridley Scott Still Developing new ‘Alien’ Franchise Entry

Ridley Scott says the third ‘Alien’ prequel is in the works.

Sir Ridley Scott is 88, but shows no sign of slowing down any time soon. His latest, ‘The Dog Stars,’ might have been something of a box office disappointment, but he’s already preparing his next project, a new take on ‘Treasure Island’ to star Hugh Jackman.

And, talking with the L.A. Times, Scott also provided fresh intel on his plans for a future instalment of the ‘Alien’ prequel franchise, which has so far included 2012’s ‘Prometheus’ and 2017’s ‘Alien: Covenant.’

The movies, of course, dig into the story of the ‘Alien’ franchise, which is also being tackled by others, including Fede Alvarez’s ‘Alien: Romulus’ from 2024 and last year’s TV spin-off ‘Alien: Earth.’

What has Ridley Scott said about a new ‘Alien’ movie?

Here’s what Scott says about the new film, currently working titled ‘Alien: Awakening.’ it will pick up with twisted AI David (Michael Fassbender) creating a “brave new world for himself.”

“I’ve already got a footprint for the next ‘Alien.’ We did ‘Prometheus,’ and then ‘Alien: Covenant.’ So, I’m picking up where we left off in ‘Alien: Covenant.’ Michael Fassbender’s basically thinks he’s Ozymandias now, creating a brave new world for himself.”

When will the new ‘Alien’ movie be on screens?

Even with Scott’s prodigious output that’s a question right now. Even ‘Treasure Island’ doesn’t have a date yet, so it’s anyone’s guess on fresh ‘Alien.’

Outside of Scott (though he’s still an executive producer on all things Xenomorphic), a ‘Romulus’ sequel remains in development.
