Pragmata – Best Unit Printer Upgrades To Buy First

Early on during your journey through Pragmata, you’ll gain access to the Unit Printer, which allows you to purchase new items and upgrades that will improve your offensive and defensive capabilities of your kit. You’ll be granted plenty of options to buy here throughout your adventure, but deciding which upgrades are most important to you during the opening hours of the game can make things much easier later on. Of course, what upgrades you opt to purchase is ultimately up to you and your playstyle, but we’ve compiled a list of which Unit Printer upgrades we think are best to grab first.

Mod Slot (Attachments)

Mods add various passive effects that can impact how you approach combat, letting you really tailor a loadout that maximizes your chances of success. But you’ll discover quite a lot of them throughout the world, so you’ll want to invest in Mod Slot upgrades, which will grant you additional slots to equip them. This should be one of your highest priorities early in the game.

Shockwave Gun (Weapons)

Effectively functioning as a shotgun, the Shockwave Gun is arguably the best weapon in the game for dealing out raw damage up close–especially since a lot of combat encounters trap you in close quarters with your foes. Luckily, it’s also the first Attack Unit weapon you acquire, making it the best candidate for pumping upgrades into for more ammo, higher damage, and faster reloads.

Repair Up (Attachments)

You’ll get more repair cartridges by exploring sectors in the game and completing specific objectives, but you’ll need to invest in the Repair Up attachment to make the most of each use. Enemies hit hard in Pragmata, so make sure you keep this one leveled up with each new tier that unlocks.

Decode (Hacking)

Decode is the first hacking node you’ll get in the game, and it remains immensely powerful for use against single enemies through the entire game, as it increases the damage dealt after you finish the hack. Subsequent upgrades increase that damage even further, so go ahead and level this one as often as possible.

Additional Node Slot (Attachments)

Having more hacking nodes populating your hacks is never a bad thing. You can even pick up more and more of them out in the world as you’re exploring, meaning you’ll want to have as many slots available to store additional options during a run. As such, always level Additional Node Slot when a new tier arises, then make sure you equip the hacking nodes you prefer in your loadout before heading out into a sector.

Thruster Charges (Attachments)

Do you like taking damage? If not, you’ll want to dodge–a lot. Pragmata’s enemies and obstacles come at you fast, and having the stamina to dash around as much as possible is important. With that in mind, upgrade your Thruster Charges at least a few times early on to ensure you have adequate options for maneuverability during combat.

Object Scan (Abilities)

Finding collectibles and materials in Pragmata can be made significantly easier when Object Scan becomes available only a few hours into the game. Buy this immediately (it’s very cheap), then use the assigned button to ping the environment consistently while exploring to help lead you to nearby stuff you might otherwise miss. This is a must-have ability.

Auto-Hacking (Abilities)

Hacking gets progressively more complicated as you make more progress in Pragmata. By late in the game, manually hacking can feel extremely challenging when surrounded by a horde of baddies. This is why the Auto-Hacking ability is incredibly useful, allowing Diana to perform a hack for you with a simple press of a button. Though you won’t want to use it for every scenario, as it uses some of your hacking gauge, you’ll definitely want to do it when you’re feeling overwhelmed or want to move things along more quickly.
