After the referees called a major overtime decision against the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes said he was happy they didn’t get the call.
The Kansas City Chiefs got past the Indianapolis Colts in a thrilling overtime win. Patrick Mahomes was back to his best as he led his team to a 33-30 victory.

The game ended with a Harrison Butker field goal in overtime. However, it could have happened sooner after it seemed the Colts had fumbled the ball after a major catch in overtime.
The referees initially ruled it as a fumble by Laquon Treadwell, which would have given KC the win. However, it was overturned and the Colts man was declared down by contact.
The Chiefs won eventually, but Mahomes had a curious take on the decision after the game.

Had the initial ruling on the field stood, it would have given KC the win right there off of a turnover. However, it would have also led to social media backlash.

Kansas City’s consistent success means they are often subjected to suggestions that the games are rigged for them. While these types of comments are often ignored by stars, it would seem that Mahomes sees them, too.
“The big play in overtime, where we think we stripped the ball and they end up being barely touched,” Mahomes said. “I’m actually kind of glad because I didn’t want to see Twitter’s reaction if they would have called it a fumble.
“So we got to prove it the right way. Get the stop there and then go back out there and get a field goal.
Every major dynasty in the history of every major league has faced frustrated fan accusations about rigged leagues and such. The Patriots had it, for example, now so do the Chiefs.

As long as the team keeps winning, this is bound to happen. It’s interesting to see Mahomes admit that it affects him, it is best for any star to ignore these types of takes.
