With a Week 1 showdown against the Wisconsin Badgers looming, On3’s Tyler James recently revealed that head coach Marcus Freeman will be down at least eight players.

As of Friday, September 4, the AP Poll’s No. 4 team had ruled out eight players with one more listed as questionable.
Notre Dame, which was also ranked No. 5 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, heads to Lambeau Field as nearly a three-touchdown favorite, and that’s even with all of these injuries piled up heading into their 2026 season debut.
