Nike is continuing to answer the wishes of Air Max enthusiasts by bringing back yet another original Air Max 95 style in the model’s remastered Big Bubble form. After delivering Neon, Grape and a soon-to-be-released Slate colorway, the sneaker’s beloved Comet makeup is also making its way back to retailers.
Eschewing the traditional gray gradient fade look of the Air Max 95, the Comet colorway is essentially an inverse flip on the fading pattern. Rather than the black midsole seen on the aforementioned Neon look, the Comet style starts with a white midsole and fades from gray to black at its top panel. The key color, however, on the White/Comet Red/Neutral Gray/Medium Gray/Black combination is the bold Comet Red shade that fills in the sneaker’s lace loops, heel and tongue branding and visible Air units, giving the shoe its longstanding nickname.
The Nike Air Max 95 Comet Red was released as part of the model’s original run in 1995 and it’s received numerous reissues over the years including in 2003 and 2010. However, after more than 30 years since the colorway’s first appearance, the upcoming ’26 reissue may be as close as fans have come to the original look since.
This is due to the Air Max 95’s remastered Big Bubble campaign, which was introduced last year for the model’s 30th anniversary. With the intention of making the Air Max 95 look and feel more like the original version, Nike redesigned the silhouette to include plumper visible Air units and a restructured, less tapered toe box.

Making modifications to a classic sneaker can be risky for any brand, but Nike’s Air Max 95 updates were universally praised. Last year, following the April arrival of the Neon style, Kith founder Ronnie Fieg took to X to express his satisfaction with the remastered reissue, calling it a “big win” for Nike. Kith would later release its own Air Max 95 Big Bubble collaboration exclusively in kid’s sizing.
Following an early release at Japanese retailer Atmos, Air Max 95 OG Big Bubble Comet Red will be released this summer for $200 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Nike Sportswear retailers. The style code for the upcoming release is IB7862-100. A detailed look at the upcoming ’26 reissue appears below.
