Mouse: P.I. for Hire Publisher Hails Sales Success

Mouse: P.I. For Hire, the stylish first-person shooter dressed up as a 1930s cartoon, has topped 730,000 sales since its launch in April.

Publisher PlaySide confirmed the milestone during its financial presentation to investors, revealing that publishing and marketing costs have now been “recouped,” which means that from now on, funds collated from the “continued strong sales performance” will contribute to PlaySide’s FY26 revenue. That’s now expected to be around $36-£38 million — up from $34.7 million.

“The upgrade primarily reflects stronger than-expected unit sales and ongoing wishlist conversion of Mouse: P.I. For Hire across PC and console platforms, and has been achieved despite the delayed launch of the title and the absence of major external project wins during the year to date,” the publisher said.

Interestingly, PlaySide also revealed that “console units have increased to 50% of total units sold as the title retains significant visibility on console storefronts.”

Mouse: P.I. For Hire, developed by Fumi Games, sees you join private investigator Jack Pepper on a guns blazing, jazz-fueled adventure, combining “the charm of hand-drawn rubber hose animation inspired by the classic cartoons of the 1930s with the adrenaline and action of an explosive first person shooter.” It’s currently sitting on a ‘Very Positive’ user score on Steam.
