Minister Anand meets with France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today met with Jean-Noël Barrot, France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, at the Munich Security Conference, held from February 13 to 15, 2026, in Germany.

The ministers discussed key global issues, including Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine, the Arctic, the continued humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and the situation in Haiti. They underscored the importance of continued Canada-France collaboration, both bilaterally and through the G7 under France’s presidency.

The ministers also explored opportunities to deepen cooperation on defence, critical minerals and trade diversification, building on Canada and France’s shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
