Yesterday, the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Imma Tor Faus, Andorra’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the margins of the Pathways to Peace: Second International Conference on Returning Ukrainian Children, Detained Civilians, and Prisoners of War, held in Toronto on September 28 and 29, 2026.
The ministers reaffirmed their strong support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and their shared commitment to advancing a just, lasting and comprehensive peace. Minister Anand thanked Minister Tor Faus for her participation in the conference and Andorra’s continued engagement in the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children. The two ministers underscored the importance of securing the return of deported Ukrainian children, unlawfully detained civilians and prisoners of war as a key step to achieving durable peace.
Minister Anand and Minister Tor Faus discussed opportunities to further strengthen Canada-Andorra relations, including through people-to-people ties and multilateral cooperation. Minister Anand welcomed Andorra’s efforts to deepen its relationship with the European Union and highlighted the value of cooperation among like-minded partners in advancing shared economic, security and democratic priorities. Minister Tor Faus noted that Canada is an important partner on key Andorran priorities, including environmental protection, gender equality, and artificial intelligence.
Minister Anand and Minister Tor Faus agreed to remain in close contact to advance shared priorities, support Ukraine and further strengthen the partnership between Canada and Andorra.
