Me+Em, Booker Prize Foundation Create Reading Lists for Busy Customers


CRACKING THE BOOKS: Me+Em knows the most stylish accessories anyone can have are a heart and a brain, which is why the brand has teamed with the Booker Prize Foundation, the charity behind Britain’s most famous award for fiction, on a yearlong partnership. Over the next 12 months the fashion brand and the foundation will co-curate four themed reading lists with the aim of offering a “unique edit” of acclaimed works from the canon of the Booker prizes.

Me+Em said the partnership, which launches Wednesday, is meant to bridge the gap between “intelligent style,” and world-class literature. The brand said it saw a “unique opportunity to further enhance the lives of its customers” with a reading list pulled from an archive of more than 700 works of fiction that were nominated for the Booker and Bukhman International Booker prizes over the last 57 years.

The inaugural list is themed around autumn, and the books include “Hotel du Lac” by Anita Brookner, “Loitering with Intent” by Muriel Spark, “The Sea, the Sea” by Iris Murdoch and “Orbital” by Samantha Harvey.

Clare Hornby, founder and CEO of Me+Em who is always trying to anticipate her customers’ needs, said the idea of teaming with the foundation came from her own book club.

“I’ve seen firsthand how reading, and a shared interest in storytelling, provides an opportunity for community and connection. A great novel has the power to create deep conversation with friends and strangers alike. We know that our global customer is cultured and well-read, but they are also time-poor.”

Hornby added: “Just as we edit our collections to fit seamlessly into their dynamic lives, we recognized an opportunity for that same level of curation outside of wardrobing. I am delighted that we have the opportunity to work with the Booker Prize Foundation, the most prestigious institution in the literary space, to bring Me+Em customers, and Booker Prize readers, unexpected, thought-provoking reading lists that create meaningful connection and conversation.”

A second reading list will launch in early December, focused on books that explore the concept of giving, with subsequent lists to be announced throughout 2027.

The Me+Em x The Booker Prizes reading lists will be available to buy from BookKind, an online bookshop that donates 10 percent of every order value to its charity partners, which include the Booker Prize Foundation.
