Passengers traveling long-haul with German flag carrier
Lufthansa will be treated to a new amenity kit, with the new branded pouch containing an eye mask and earplugs. This upgrade for economy class passengers is a notable improvement from what they received before, which was nothing.
Lufthansa is in the process of making several improvements to its long-haul product as part of Project FOX, and this new addition for the economy class cabin comes as a number of other major international carriers have added amenity kits for economy class long-haul flights. It is worth noting that the new amenity kit is rather modest when compared to those received in premium cabins, which usually include socks, dental care, and lotions.
Lufthansa’s Exciting New Economy Class Amenity Kits
Offered on Lufthansa long-haul services, the new branded pouch is debuting for the first time on the Star Alliance carrier, and for long-haul or overnight flights. This addition is part of the airline’s continued improvements to the passenger experience, and includes a branded small pouch, a sleep/eye mask, and earplugs.
Other economy upgrades that come at the same time include new printed menus, three hot main meal options on flights that have a duration in excess of ten hours, and a number of expanded beverage and snack selections. This is hoped to improve the airline’s overall experience, while also setting a new benchmark for travel with the carrier and its closest competitors.
Other airlines such as
Turkish Airlines,
Emirates and
Etihad Airways already provide complimentary amenity kits for those on long-haul economy class flights, and now Lufthansa has followed suit. Lufthansa is hoping that the new kits will raise overall customer satisfaction.
‘An Onboard Experience That’s On A Whole New Level’
As suggested on the airline’s website, the carrier is looking to offer ‘an onboard experience that’s on a whole new level’. This includes more meal choices, more little extras, and a consistent design to make the journey even more enjoyable. As previously mentioned, the expanded menu now offers a total of three hot main meals, including German beer and bread.
The new dedicated economy amenity kits are a simple but nice touch to make the trip more comfortable. Details around the seat have been appreciably enhanced, with the new eye/sleep masks and earplugs hoping to help block out the noise and light for the duration of your trip.
Other improvements, such as coffee and tea refills, are other attentive service improvements, irrespective of which cabin or seat you are sitting in. The new kits are now available on all Lufthansa long-haul and overnight flights.
Economy Class Amenity Kits Come To One Of Europe’s Largest Airlines
Lufthansa remains one of the largest airlines in Europe, and the Lufthansa Group (which is the parent company and includes other European carriers such as Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Eurowings, ITA Airways, and Swiss International Air Lines) is the second-largest airline group in Europe after Ryanair. After Turkish, Lufthansa is the second airline on the continent to offer amenity kits for long-haul economy class passengers.
Based in Cologne, Lufthansa operates a fleet of more than 270 aircraft and serves a total of 229 destinations worldwide. The airline’s frequent flyer program is Miles & More, and the airline maintains extensive hub operations at both Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich (MUC). Lufthansa remains one of the only major global airlines to still operate the double-decker Boeing 747-8 and Airbus A380, both of which are no longer in production.
Lufthansa’s latest move to add amenity kits for long-haul and overnight flights is a welcome new addition to the economy class cabin, and comes as the airline continues to make small but impactful enhancements for the biggest cabin. The airline looks to match some of its major competitors for the long-haul market, and it delivered at a time when the airline continues its Project FOX onboard experience upgrade across all cabins.
