Inside the Delano Hotel’s Reopening in Miami Beach: All the Details

The Delano has reopened its doors in Miami Beach, just in time for the World Cup this summer.

The Art Deco hotel, which originally opened in 1947, is unveiling an extensive property renovation alongside new social and culinary offerings in South Beach. The design, which leans minimalist and airy with a focus on organic furniture, was led by Elastic Architects in collaboration with lifestyle company Ennismore.

“We want our guests to feel inspired by the vibrancy that only Miami Beach can offer — all while being in a comfortable and welcoming environment,” says Delano chief brand officer Ben Pundhole, adding that they worked closely with the Miami Design Preservation League to honor the hotel’s historic legacy. Original design details, including the building’s octagonal columns and terrazzo floors, have been restored along with other architectural details. A new art program, overseen by artist Nicola Green, will highlight early and mid-career artists with a connection to Miami.

In the lobby, guests will be greeted by Café Delano and retail boutique Nothing Finer, which will offer signature items curated by Chez Dede and a Delano World Cup jersey collaboration with The Paradise Suite.

The reopening also features the Stateside debut of French hospitality group Paris Society. Onsite dining options include a new outpost of Italian restaurant Gigi Rigolatto and Mimi Kakushi, a popular restaurant in Dubai. The Japanese restaurant, inspired by 1920s Osaka, is located on the hotel’s fourth floor and will be open exclusively to hotel guests and the newly introduced Delano Members Club.

The club is launching in Miami before expanding to Delano locations in other cities. In addition to exclusive restaurant privileges, the hotel’s new membership club will also offer access to a private pool on the fourth floor, fitness studio, “social spa” The Source by Delano, and curated programming including talks, masterclasses, and entertainment including live music, comedy and theater.

“We understand today’s guests have evolved and consider wellness and longevity amongst their top priorities when planning a trip,” says Pundhole. “This hotel will set the tone for the Delano brand and what’s to come, along with being located in a city that’s grown and changed so much in recent years — just like Delano has.”
