“I feel totally unbothered” – Deborah Ann Woll doesn’t care about the trolls taking shots at God Of War Laufey

Since it was announced at the beginning of June, God of War Laufey has been receiving an unexpected amount of negative criticism. And a lot of the commentary about the game – of which we’ve only seen one trailer so far – revolves around the actress playing the eponymous character Laufey in it: Deborah Ann Woll, who reprises the role from God of War (2018).

But the star seems wonderfully unphased by the backlash. In a new interview, Woll says she’s “totally unbothered” by the anguish surrounding the upcoming new PS5 exclusive – because she knows “it’s great”.

“Genuinely, I thought I was going to be much more offended by it, but one, I’m not on social media, so that helps, and two, I don’t know, I feel totally unbothered,” Woll explained to TikTok influencer, quinnphobic, at Florida Supercon. “Because I just know it’s great. It’s okay if it’s not your cup of tea, but in no universe is it bad.”

It’s refreshing to see how zen the actress seems to be in the face of, well, hateful online remarks. A lot of the conversation around the game has been based on her appearance, with certain pockets of misogynist gamers insulting Woll’s appearance and the model of Laufey in-game. So it’s nice to see that the Daredevil actress remains upbeat and unphased by the griping and groaning of certain sections of the online community.

We don’t know an awful lot about God of War Laufey just yet; so far, we know that it – and its controversial jelly cube – was discussed as far back as 2018, and that it will actually be released on-disc, despite PlayStation’s recent announcement that it plans to wind down physical media in its business. We also know that we’re getting more Kratos in the future, and that the new game is bringing back the combat from the original trilogy.

God of War Laufey currently goes without a release date, but it looks like we can expect to see it in 2027. In the mean time, we can look forward to the upcoming God of War TV series, which only today announce it is recasting its Kratos after an on-set accident.
