Sinners star Li Jun Li joins The Last of Us Season 3 as Miriam, Yara and Lev’s mother.
We already knew that Michelle Mao would portray Yara and Kyriana Kratter as Lev, but Variety has now revealed that Li Jun Li will play their Seraphite parent.
Li joins Jason Ritter (WLF soldier), Patrick Wilson (Jerry), Ariela Barer (Mel), Tati Gabrielle (Nora), and Spencer Lord (Owen) in the critically-acclaimed series’ third season, alongside Clea DuVall (Seraphite) and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Manny), as well as Bella Ramsey (Ellie), Kaitlyn Dever (Abby), Isabella Merced (Dina), Gabriel Luna (Tommy), and Jeffery Wright (Isaac).
Li has previously portrayed Grace Chow in Sinners and Iris Chang in Quantico.
The Last of Us season three will move its focus from Bella Ramsey’s Ellie, and instead tell Abby’s side of the story in Seattle. It will also introduce a number of new characters for the show, such as Abby’s father Jerry (played by Patrick Wilson), Michelle Mao’s Yara and Kyriana Kratter’s Lev. Filming began on season three at the end of last month. We got sneak peeks at Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby and Kyriana Kratter’s Lev on set.
Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann announced last year that he would be stepping back from the series after The Last of Us season two to focus on games, including Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Druckmann had previously worked on The Last of Us’ adaptation as a co-showrunner, director, writer and producer.
We don’t yet have a release date for The Last of Us’ third season beyond 2027. However, the upcoming season is also suspected to be the show’s last. HBO’s CEO Casey Bloy has said he is not worried about The Last of Us without Druckmann, stating the game director had “given us a good blueprint with the show”.
