Two European heavyweights prepare for what promises to be one of the standout matches of the 2026 World Cup as tournament favorite France faces Spain for a place in Sunday’s final.

The free-scoring French have had to show plenty of fight as well as guile to reach the last four. Having had to negotiate a brutal last-16 clash with Paraguay, Les Bleus had an equally tough test in the quarterfinals. Didier Deschamps’ team eased past tournament dark horses Morocco 2-0, thanks to second-half goals from Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé.

After making a slow start in this World Cup, Spain appeared to come to life in the early knockout stages. Luis de la Fuente’s players nevertheless looked sluggish at times in their 2-1 quarterfinal win over Belgium, leaving a sense that La Roja have reached the semifinals without hitting top gear. While that win saw the Spanish concede their first goal of the tournament, head coach de la Fuente’s impressive record of never losing a World Cup or European Championship match — currently 12 wins and 1 draw from 13 — remains intact.

France takes on Spain in this semifinal match on Tuesday, July 14, at Dallas Stadium (aka AT&T Stadium) in Arlington, Texas, with kickoff set for 2 p.m. CT. That makes it a 3 p.m. ET or 12 p.m. PT start on the East and West Coasts in the US and Canada, and an 8 p.m. BST start in the UK. For those watching in Australia, it’s a 5 a.m. AEST kickoff on Wednesday.

How to watch the 2026 World Cup using a VPN

If you’re traveling abroad and want to keep up with all the World Cup action while away from home, a VPN can help enhance your privacy and security when streaming.

It encrypts your traffic and prevents your internet service provider from throttling your speeds. Additionally, it can be helpful when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks while traveling, providing an extra layer of protection for your devices and logins. VPNs are legal in many countries, including the US and Canada, and can be used for legitimate purposes such as improving online privacy and security.

If you choose to use a VPN, follow the provider’s installation instructions to ensure you’re connected securely and in compliance with applicable laws and service agreements. Some streaming platforms may block access when a VPN is detected, so verifying if your streaming subscription allows VPN use is crucial.
