As expected, Naoki Hamaguchi popped up at the end of gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 to give us another look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
The third and final part of the ‘Remake Trilogy’ will launch simultaneously on all platforms (including Switch 2) at some point in Spring 2027 — which, when you think about it, really isn’t that far away.
Naturally, the director’s appearance was accompanied by a fresh look at the game, which sees Cloud and co. facing off against the mighty Weapons — huge monsters that have cropped up across the planet. We get a look at the Ruby, Emerald and Ultra weapons in this brief trailer, each of which looks fittingly massive.
The game itself continues to look really rather huge, with another beefy open world at our disposal, this time traversable by airship, glider and more.
Given that Switch 2 had some troubles with its predecessor’s performance, we’ve got our fingers crossed that Square Enix can get this third entry running at a fair lick on the comparatively smaller console. Only time will tell, but fortunately, we don’t have too long to wait.
