England vs India: Charlie Dean left out of squad for historic Lord’s Test

England have left white-ball vice-captain Charlie Dean out of their squad for the historic Test at Lord’s against India next month.

Dean, 25, who has played three Tests, is set to captain England at the ongoing T20 World Cup. with captain Nat Sciver-Brunt ruled out of the next two matches at least because of a calf injury.

But, having had a back injury of her own at the start of the season and returning earlier than planned when Sciver-Brunt also missed the start of the summer, England have omitted Dean to manage her workload.

The Test starts on 10 July, just five days after the T20 World Cup final and nine of England’s squad for that tournament are included, including Sciver-Brunt.

The World Cup players not included are Dean, batters Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt-Hodge, spinner Linsey Smith, and all-rounders Dani Gibson and Freya Kemp.

Left-arm spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman, 18, who made her white-ball debuts earlier this month is included, while all-rounder Mady Villiers, who has not played for England since 2024, has been recalled.

Lancashire pair Ellie Threlkeld and Grace Potts, who have not played for England in any format, also make the squad.

England squad for India Test: Nat Sciver-Brunt (capt), Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Tilly Corteen-Coleman, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Amy Jones, Heather Knight, Emma Lamb, Grace Potts, Ellie Threlkeld, Mady Villiers, Issy Wong.
