Elden Ring’s Tarnished Edition adds more content to an already-packed world – from new Armour Sets to Weapons, NPC Invasions, and Spectral Steed Attire options (new looks for Torrent, in other words).

It’s all available either as part of the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition – which sees FromSoftware’s modern masterpiece make its way to a Nintendo platform for the first time – or as a separate Tarnished Pack DLC for the PC, PS5 and Xbox versions. (If you’re playing on one of these platforms with an existing save file, then as well as buying the DLC pack, you also need to ensure the game has been updated to version 1.17 or higher.)

New Class Armour Sets & Their Weapons

As well as being found on the new Idus Knight and Heavy Knight classes from the off, you can also find these weapons and armour sets out in the world at the following locations:

Idus Knight’s Silver Grooved Armour Set & Weapon

You can get the Idus Knight armour set – also known as the Silver Grooved armour set – at the Nomadic Merchant just north of Bellum Church in the north of the Liurnia of the Lakes region. They will sell the Silver Grooved Helm, Armor, Gauntlets and Greaves, plus the Silver Grooved Shield.

As for the Idus Sword, it’s in the south of the Liurnia of the Lakes region. Head to the Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace, and head north-west, where it’ll be by a tree near some ruins.

Heavy Knight’s Steel Armour Set & Weapon

You can get the Heavy Knight armour set – also known as the Steel set – at the Isolated Merchant’s Shack in the Weeping Peninsula. There, the merchant will sell the Steel Helm, Armor, Gauntlets and Greaves.

As for the weapon, the Hefty Scimitar, head to Fort Haight West in southern Limgrave, then proceed north to a Nomadic Merchant who will sell one.

New Weapons

As well as the weapons assigned to the new classes (mentioned above) and the ones belonging to the NPC Invasions (see the next section below), there are three additional weapons to also find out in the world:

Reed Great Katana

Head to Fort Faroth in Caelid, where there’s a tall, grey mound just to the north. You can scale it with Torrent, and on the north side is a corpse with the Reed Great Katana.

Reverse-Bladed Sword

This is sold by the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold. This, in theory, should be available to you from the start of the game, giving you a backhand blade option long before you venture into the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Ritual Thrusting Sword

This is found inside the Caelid Colosseum in north Caelid. (Note: getting here requires visiting the underground Siofra River’s lift that’s north of the Worshippers’ Woods Site of Grace.)

NPC Invasions & Their Weapons, Armour

There are two new NPCs to find via invasions, both in mid- to late-game areas. These also come with new armour sets and weapons.

Knight Leontiel

Head to Caelid’s Wailing Dunes – also known as the site of the Starscourge Radahn fight. Go directly north, and you’ll soon be invaded by Knight Leontiel. Upon her defeat, you’ll receive both the weapon – Leontiel’s Greatsword – and the full armour set – Leontiel’s Hat, Leontiel’s Armor, Leontiel’s Leather Gloves, Leontiel’s Boots.

Broken Gold Mask

In Leyndell, Royal Capital, cast the Law of Regression spell in front of the Radagon statue (you’ll do this as part of the Brother Corhyn / Goldmask questline). In doing so, Broken Gold Mask will then invade. Upon their defeat, you’ll receive the Golden Order Flail weapon and armour set – Broken Gold Mask, Gold Tattoo (Chest), Gold Tattoo (Arm), and Gold Tattoo (Leg).

Note: this won’t work if you have unlocked Leyndell, Ashen Capital, or already cast the spell in front of the statue previously.

Spectral Steed Attire (Horse Armour)

A new feature added to the Tarnished Edition is the ability to customise your trusty steed’s appearance. Once you collect your first of these, the option to change Torrent’s look can be performed at a Site of Grace.

Spectral Steed Regalia: Tree Sentinel

This is in Limgrave’s Stormveil Castle dungeon. Head to the Godrick the Grafted Site of Grace (unlocked by defeating said boss) then proceed onward to the throne room. Take a right, then a left, to find a chest with the Regalia: Tree Sentinel inside.

Spectral Steed Regalia: Carian Silver

This is in Liurnia of the Lakes’s Ranni’s Rise. Visit the titular Site of Grace, and a chest will be behind the desk in the same room containing the Regalia: Carian Silver.

Spectral Steed Regalia: Funereal Night

In Altus Plateau, head south-west from the Hermit Merchant’s Shack and Outer Wall Battleground Sites of Grace. Along the clifftop are a number of swords in the ground, where the Regalia: Funereal Night will be found next to the south-most blade.
