- Disney has reversed its order for ‘Wonder Man’ Season 2.
- The characters may yet appear elsewhere in the MCU.
- Showrunner Andrew Guest released a statement about the decision.
Seemingly looking to hide bad news amid a wave of positivity as Spider-Man mania hit its peak this weekend, Disney and Marvel confirmed to Variety that Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe series ‘Wonder Man’ will not now proceed with its second season.
That’s something of a shocker, since the show, created and run by Andrew Guest and Destin Daniel Cretton, had been announced as renewed back in March.

“He was born to play this role, but the spotlight reveals everything.”
Air Date: January 27th, 2026
Now the series, which was an amusing, smart Hollywood satire focused on its characters rather than superhero theatrics, will not return. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II starred as struggling actor Simon Williams battling his own ego and trying to hide his powers and Ben Kingsley reprised the role of soused Scouse actor Trevor Slattery.

Guest was quick to hit TikTok to discuss the disappointing news:
“This is not a marketing stunt. There is no movie in the works, and Destin’s schedule, and no one’s schedule, was an issue. Yahya, Destin, Sir Ben, and I all loved making this show, all felt passionately about continuing to do it, and were eager to. Contracts were signed. Schedules were cleared. The writers’ room was supposed to start this week. The production was supposed to begin early next year, and there was a decision made internally between Disney and Marvel that this didn’t make sense for them, even though a few months ago it did.”
What’s the future for ‘Wonder Man’?
While the show is now seemingly over at Disney+, the sprawling nature of the MCU means that Simon in particular could still pop up one day in movies or other shows. That said, characters from less successful shows have yet to make much of an impact on the wider universe…
