Cancelled Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake’s voiced protagonist and naked robo-person bums bared in this reportedly leaked cinematic

I’m losing you, naked blue placeholder person with a tiny red blaster and tiny bare bottom standing on my arm! Wait, what was that? Oh no, I, purple-faced placeholder robo-person am being sucked out of an airlock, as is my partner, red-faced placeholder robo-person. Our bare bottoms will never survive in the lethal void of space! It’s ok, though. Thanks to some quick thinking, we’ll make it out of what appears to be an early-in-production cinematic from the first interation of the Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic remake, which has been in relative development limbo for a while now.

According to MP1st, footage of the cinematic was found via the portfolio of an unnamed animator who once worked at Aspyr, where the game was in development prior to Saber Interactive taking over as the KOTOR remakers.

While I’ll admit I struggled to get through without getting lost in giggling at the bare bums and floaty movement of the early placeholder characters as they slide through the scene, the most noteworthy aspect of the cutscene assuming it’s genuine is the voiced protagonist. Though, the lines for them, Carth Onasi, and Trask Ulgo are seemingly just being read by the same actor here, so wouldn’t be a reflection of what the final voices would sound like if that’s the case.

Back in 2022, Bloomberg blogger Jason Schreier reported that Aspyr had put the remake’s development on pause as well as fired both its art director and design director#. This, the report alleged, followed an internal demo not landing very well with Lucasfilm and Sony bigwigs. Since that point and lots of natural speculation about it potentially disappearing into the ether never to be seen again, the remake’s been under Saber Interactive’s care, with boss Matthew Karch confirming it was still alive in 2024 and Saber chief creative officer Tim Willits doing the same this March. Hellraiser Revival studio Mad Head Games were reported to be leading the remake’s development as of December 2025.

My only hope is that if we ever see it come out, there’s a video featuring a smorgasbord of bare placeholder robo-person bums tucked away in a menu as a hidden extra.
