Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, beef and pork supply chains and Africa strategy on the agenda

What’s on the agenda for the House and Senate committees today.

After holding an opening round of hearings in December, NATURAL RESOURCES members are set to resume their ongoing investigation into the decision to hand over management of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories to Nuclear Laboratory Partners of Canada, a U.S.-controlled consortium that, as The Globe and Mail notes, formally took control of CNS last year, with CNS vice-president Eric McGoeyOttawa River Institute president Ole Hendrickson and other expert witnesses set to testify.  (11 a.m.)

Also this morning: Representatives of the Canadian Pork Council, Canadian Cattle Association, Canadian Meat Council and Les Éleveurs de porcs du Québec are set to brief AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD members on reference prices in the beef and pork supply chains. (11 a.m.)

Later this afternoon, FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT members will get an update on Canada’s “Africa strategy,” courtesy of a trio of Canadian diplomats, including Special Envoy to Africa Ben Marc Diendéré, Development Finance Institute Canada and the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business. (3:30 p.m.)
