Canada and Mexico share long-standing, close ties that are underpinned by strong people-to-people connections and advance mutual security and prosperity. Canada has a large diplomatic footprint in Mexico with 10 missions across the country, including the embassy, consulates, consular agencies and Trade Commissioner Service offices.
To build on this important partnership and ensure Canada’s missions can meet the needs of an evolving world, Global Affairs Canada today announced the redevelopment of the Canadian embassy in Mexico City.
Redevelopment of the embassy offers the most cost-effective and sustainable solution for Canadians. It will allow Canada to consolidate all its Mexico City-based operations into one property and enhance program delivery while providing a safer and more accessible environment for staff members and visitors alike. The new chancery will also enhance Canada’s capacity to grow trade, as well as its commercial ties, as it expands and diversifies economic relationships with trusted, reliable partners like Mexico.
The redevelopment of the embassy reflects Canada’s ongoing commitment to enhancing and expanding its bilateral relations with Mexico. By investing in their partnership, the two countries are deepening interpersonal ties, strengthening cultural connections, expanding trade and investment and building a more integrated and prosperous partnership.
