Announcement of new diplomatic appointments


August 6, 2026 – Ottawa, Ontario – Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the following diplomatic appointments:

Jonathan Brasnett will become Consul General in Chongqing (People’s Republic of China). Mr. Brasnett will replace Eva Yu.

Julie Crowley will become Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Armenia. Ms. Crowley will replace Andrew Turner.

Marie-Andrée Lévesque will become Consul General in Guangzhou (People’s Republic of China). Ms. Lévesque will replace Behzad Babakhani.
