American Airlines Launches 13 Exciting New Nonstop International Routes [Full List]

International flights are a key part of the puzzle for American Airlines, which connects its home hubs to a wide range of international destinations. According to current data made available by Cirium, an aviation analytics company, a look at the carrier’s international network in 2026 compared to 2025 shows that 13 new routes have started or will start this year.

These range considerably in length and frequency. The diversity of American’s new international offerings highlights its status as a truly global airline.

The map above shows American’s 13 new international routes in 2026, with the large number of long-haul corridors to and from destinations in Europe immediately standing out. Philadelphia is a key hub on this front, with May marking the carrier’s launch of new routes from there to Budapest and Prague using the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Each will be served 135 times in 2026, with 31,590 seats.

Elsewhere on the East Coast, American began flying the Airbus A321XLR from New York-JFK to Edinburgh in March, with 230 rotations penciled in for 2026. Meanwhile, March also saw the first of 234 flights on the 787-8 from Miami to Milan, while Dallas/Fort Worth had new flights with the 777-200ER and 777-300ER to Athens and Zurich. The carrier commented on the “crucial role” its home base plays within its network.

“DFW [is] American’s largest and most connected hub — a hub that plays a crucial role in delivering for customers across American’s global operation this summer.”

Looking south, American also has five new international routes to the Caribbean and South America this year. With four originating in Miami, the odd one out is the new corridor from Philadelphia to Cibao International Airport (STI). This facility serves Santiago de los Caballeros, the Dominican Republic’s second-largest city, and American has penciled in 118 rotations with the 737.

As for the other four new routes from Miami, Simón Bolívar International Airport (CCS) in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, is by far the most popular. Indeed, American has penciled in 471 rotations on this route in 2026 (split between 149 with the 737-800 and 322 with Envoy Air’s Embraer E175s), offering a grand total of 50,100 seats each way. These began in late April.

Elsewhere in Venezuela, American Airlines has also scheduled 171 flights on its new route from Miami to La Chinita International Airport (MAR) in Maracaibo. These will also use E175s, and they are set to begin on July 14. Meanwhile, these jets will also serve the new route from Miami to Bimini, which began in February, while daily 737 flights to Cap-Haïtien will begin in November 2026.

While relations between the US and Canada haven’t been at their best in recent years, American also has two new routes to Canada. Both originate at New York-JFK, with the first serving Calgary International Airport (YYC) 26 times using the 737 MAX 8.

These short-term flights will begin in August and operate until October. Meanwhile, American is eyeing a busier summer for its new route from JFK to Quebec City, which will be operated by Republic Airways under the American Eagle brand using E175 jets. 69 rotations are planned in total, with these also running from August to October but at a higher frequency.
