AliExpress is pulling out the stops to make shopping on its site smoother and more dependable. The global e-commerce platform said Monday that it is simplifying the refund process for certain claims, adding a new in-stock guarantee and reinforcing the service standard in the U.S. at the end of the month. The company said it is expanding direct coordination with delivery partners.
The improvements align with AliExpress’ back-to-school sales, which runs from Monday to Aug. 26. The sales showcase deals of up to 90 percent off items across tech, home and fashion categories.
Regarding the new initiative, the company described it as “a new phase of ongoing U.S. customer experience enhancements designed to give shoppers clearer order information, simpler eligible refunds and more consistent support throughout the shopping journey.”
AliExpress said the enhancements reflect the company’s continued investment in creating “a more reliable and convenient shopping experience for U.S. consumers.”
Chris Gu, U.S. country manager at AliExpress, said shoppers come to the site “for value and selection, and they expect a dependable experience from checkout through delivery. We are improving the way customers track orders, receive eligible refunds and access support so shopping on AliExpress is easier throughout the year. This work is central to the experience we are building for consumers across America who trust us for their shopping needs.”
AliExpress emphasized that customer confidence extends beyond the point of purchase via its fast delivery guarantee, “which provides customers with built-in protections if eligible orders are delayed, lost, damaged or not delivered.”
The guarantee is currently available on about 95 percent of the products offered in the U.S.
For eligible orders without delivery confirmation (during the applicable guaranteed window period), consumers can request refunds that are automatically approved upon submission. “The window is 20 days after shipment for products stocked in the U.S. and 30 days after shipment for cross-border products,” AliExpress noted.
AliExpress is also simplifying certain eligible refund claims by using tracking, order and seller information that is already available on the site. This cuts down the documentation that needs to be submitted.
The company said under a new in-stock guarantee, for eligible paid orders that were canceled due to being out of stock, customers get a full refund and can then claim a coupon in the AliExpress app and with no minimum purchase needed. AliExpress said the coupon is $2 for eligible Brand+ products and $1 for other eligible products.
Brand+ is a dedicated channel and verification label that is designed to feature authentic products from recognized, trusted international and emerging local brands.
In other news, AliExpress said starting Aug. 30, it will be reinforcing its U.S. service standard for sellers. This includes earlier penalties for repeated order cancellations and listing inaccuracies. The company said the policies are designed “to reduce unexpected cancellations and improve product accuracy for shoppers.”
“AliExpress is also expanding its direct coordination with delivery partners for eligible U.S. orders,” the company said, adding that shoppers will receive clearer tracking milestones and carrier contact information in the app, “while AliExpress can work directly with the carrier to address lost or delayed packages.”
Regarding the back-to-school sale, the company said it will feature several exclusive product launches through iBrand+. AliExpress said during its June Summer Sale, Brand+ accounted for close to 40 percent of all the orders, “demonstrating strong consumer demand for authenticated products and the added confidence the program provides.”
And throughout the sale week, AliExpress is hosting Reddit giveaways that feature products from Brand+.
AliExpress was launched in 2010 and is now available in over 200 countries and regions—in English and 15 other languages.
