Following the announcement of Final Fantasy Resonance back in June, Square Enix has begun highlighting the game’s ‘Visions’, which are characters that can fight alongside you during the journey. We already caught a glimpse of the Warrior of Light the other day, and now it’s the turn of series legend Cloud Strife.
The trailer is a pretty short one and it’s admittedly low on gameplay footage, but we can see Cloud unleashing his signature moves during battle, albeit with the rather lovely HD-2D visuals utilised to full effect.
“Resonate with his Vision within the Sanctum of Light and unleash his abilities in combat.”
Resonance is the first Final Fantasy game to use Square Enix’s HD-2D art style, joining the likes of Octopath Traveler, Live A Live, and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. In addition to the Visions, Resonance will delivery familiar sights to fans of the series, including airships, crystals, espers and moogles, while classic turn-based battles also make a return.
Resonance will launch on Switch 1 & 2 on 22nd October 2026.
