There’s a reason Copenhagen Fashion Week has become the first stop on every fashion editor’s calendar. Long before the rest of the spring/summer collections begin to filter in, the Danish capital has a knack for setting the tone for the season ahead. Expect no gimmicks or flash-in-the-pan microtrends, the Scandis know to deliver on the most functional and wearable pieces, interpreted through their own signature blend of considered styling and effortless cool.
For spring/summer 2027, that influence felt stronger than ever. Silhouettes loosened, proportions became more fluid and and the return of a beloved colour trend emerged as one of the season’s defining talking points. Yes it may be spring, but don’t expect ditsy florals or twee bows, Copenhagen is leaning into tactile fabrics, artisanal embellishment and sculptural accessories to bring plenty of drama. The “wearing vs styling” debate continues too, with layering textures and clever finishing touches proving just as influential as the clothes themselves, and we’ve been hurriedly taking notes.

Judging by the spring/summer collections alone, 2027 is shaping up to be a year defined by elevated essentials and a fresh sense of individuality. Don’t know how to wear a sheer top? Throw it on over your crisp shirt a la MKDT studio. Can’t decide between the pretty little top or the sensible knit? Wear the former over the latter as seen at Munthe. Wondering what else the Danish have up their sleeves? Keep scrolling to see the runway trends that dominated Copenhagen Fashion Week 2026, and the pieces destined to influence the wardrobes of everyone everywhere over the coming months.

1. Allotment-Core
(Image credit: Skall Studio, MKDT, Munthe)
Style Notes: Equal parts cottagecore and GORP-coded naturist, allotment-core is set to make its presence felt post-winter hibernation. If 2024 was the coastal grandmother decked out in beachy blues and sensible white linen, 2025 was the year Salomons and windbreakers exploded and we all looked set to go hiking, and 2026 was the year that cute florals, frills and bibs looked like they had stepped off the prairie, now 2027 is all about home and garden. Basket bags big enough for floral bouquets, rough and ready overalls, and easy throw-on dresses in a sunny colour palette? If it looks like you’re ready to sport a pair of pruning shears at any moment, you’ve got the look right.

2. Necks Appeal
(Image credit: Almada Label, Herskind, Mr Larkin)
Style Notes: According to Copenhagen, SS’27 is a tale of two necklines: high, turned-up nehru collars that almost reach the jaw, or elegantly scooped round necks that draw attention to structured shoulders. Whichever side you fall on, this is the summer to maximise your décolletage, and give your neck some breathing room after winter of scarves and cosy turtlenecks.

3. Lemon Sorbet
(Image credit: Herskind, Baum Und Pferdgarten, Opera Sport, Paolina Russo)
Style Notes: Fashion critics may be quick to try and tell us that buttermilk yellow is officially out, but the Copenhagen runways tell a slightly different story. Fresh, light yellows were across the majority of shows, lighting up an already happy backdrop with sunshine warmth. If there is any difference between 2025 and 2026’s warm, creamy buttermilk, it’s that this yellow feels slightly more cool toned and in a fresher lemon. In short, don’t turn your back on pastels quite yet, bold reds and blues might be dominating palettes right now, but come spring you’ll appreciate this breath of fresh (citrus) air.

4. Pep(lum) in Your Step
(Image credit: Baum Und Pferdgarten, Gestuz, By Malene Birger, Taus)
Style Notes: Just when you thought you’d seen the last of the peplum, the voluminous frill is back at Gestuz, By Malene Birger, Marimekko and Nicklas Skovgaard. Instead of the body-con peplum tops of the noughties, this time around the peplum is treated as more of a supersized ruffle, emphasising the cinched waists on denim jackets, boned tops and skirts. But the real sign that the peplum is worth investing in now? Baum Und Pferdgarten’s detachable peplum, shown over dresses, shorts, and casual jeans. Could this be the natural evolution of summer 2026’s waist scarf? We’re inclined to think so.

5. Worth the Tassel
(Image credit: The Garment, Mr Larkin, Opera Sport, Stem)
Style Notes: If you weren’t into fringing before, allow me to present the spring/summer 2027 take on tassels, one of the defining decorative details to come out of the presentations. Not-quite “traditional” boho styling but definitely a nod to artisanal craftsmanship, elongated fringing created fluid silhouettes at The Garment, and beaded chains and tassel embellishments adorned hems, dresses, and scarves as playful accents at Opera Sport, Mr Larkin and Taus. Add tassels and movement to clean Scandinavian minimalism, and you have a trend thats sure sure to go the distance in an age where expressionism can go viral—mark my words.
