Tom Holland Says There’s a Plan in Place for New Spider-Man

Tom Holland has confirmed a plan is in place for someone else to play Spider-Man.
But he’s staying in the role for now.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ just became a huge hit at the box office.

Even as his latest outing as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has been breaking records at the box office, Tom Holland says he has one eye on the future of the character, one that won’t necessarily include him.

“A brand new day starts now.”

Talking on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, Holland has confirmed that he’s been involved with long-developing plans to find a successor. Don’t panic if you love his interpretation of the character just yet, though –– he’s still aboard for now.

Here’s what Holland had to say about the plan to find a new Spidey:

“There’s a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ It’s laid out. It’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting.”

He’s said previously he’d be excited to see a live-action Miles Morales (currently to be found in animated form in the ‘Spider-Verse’ movies, but we’d still expect Holland to stick around for a while.

With ‘Brand New Day’ huge box office result, you know Sony and Marvel are already plotting at least one more stand-alone Spidey outing.

Animated adventure ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ is due to hit screens on June 18 next year.

And beyond that? SPOILER ALERT for anyone who has yet to see ‘Brand New Day’ –– that movie’s post-credit “scene” featured the Spider-Tracker from the film showing Spider-Man off-world, potentially setting up Holland’s appearance in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ assuming he hasn’t already filmed something for ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’
