The gods can be cruel. Things are changing in front of the camera for Sony Pictures TV and Amazon MGM/Prime Video’s ‘God of War.’ Following star Ryan Hurst tearing a bicep on set performing a stunt as main character Kratos (more on that below), Dave Bautista is now in talks to replace him in the role.

‘God of War,’ which adapts the PlayStation game created by David Jaffe, had already filmed several episodes, which will be re-shot.

The cast for the show also includes Callum Vinson, who remains attached to play Kratos’ son Atreus (and who would likely have needed to be replaced given how quickly kids age were the show to shut down for a lengthy delay).

What’s the story of ‘God of War’?

The series will pick up with the story of the two most recent ‘God of War’ games, in which Kratos must raise his ten-year old son Atreus while battling gods of the Norse pantheon.

And the official logline? Here we go… “Father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”

Where else can we see Dave Bautista?

Bautista most recently showed up in action comedy ‘The Wrecking Crew’ and next up has the ‘Highlander’ remake (where he’s playing the Kurgan) and ‘Road House 2.’
