As Comic-Con 2026 wraps up, two celebrity style camps have emerged. Some, like Hunter Schafer and H.E.R, pushed the convention’s palette toward neon with grapefruit, yellow, tangerine and tomato red, while others, including Keke Palmer, Michelle Yeoh and Jennifer Connelly, answered its appetite for maximalism by removing color almost entirely. For Apple TV’s “Dark Matter” season two press line on Saturday, Connelly stayed in black and white and reserved the surprise for a narrow transparent section in her Louis Vuitton fall 2026 pumps.

Black leather covered the inner sides high over the instep, giving the sharply pointed pair a bootie-like profile from that angle. On the outer sides, clear panels exposed the foot from the toe box, while an angular cutout created a slight d’Orsay effect. The tall block heels were rendered in translucent amber and black with a horn-like mottled finish, introducing a second clear element without turning the design into a fully transparent shoe.

She paired the pumps with Louis Vuitton’s Contrast Ruffle Trim Dress, a short-sleeve black technical jersey style fitted through the bodice and flared below the hips. The controlled contrast repeated with narrow white ruffles around the neckline and in vertical strips across the skirt. She completed the look with gold hoop earrings and a slim bracelet.
The appearance extended Connelly’s more than decade-long Vuitton run. She has represented the house since 2014 and is the longest-serving face of Nicolas Ghesquière’s womenswear collections, although their collaboration began during his Balenciaga years. This January, she fronted Vuitton’s spring 2026 campaign, photographed by Cass Bird; in March, she attended the fall 2026 show in a flowing cream look from the previous season.

Connelly wasn’t the only star wearing shoes with clear details, either. Melissa O’Neil, who portrays Portia Lin in the sci-fi series, and Lauren Tom, a voice actor at the convention to discuss her roles in “King of the Hill” and “Futurama,” also worked transparent elements into their Comic-Con shoes, but in very different proportions.

O’Neil paired a white lace look with nude mule-style heels secured by two clear straps, one across the toes and another higher on the foot. Tom went to the other extreme in Rick Owens’ fall 2023 Luxor Minimal Degrade Kiss boots, combining black leather ankle uppers and towering platform soles with thick, faceted clear heels.

Across all three looks, transparency functioned as a construction detail rather than a full-shoe proposition: a missing side panel, a pair of narrow straps or a heel that appeared suspended beneath a heavy boot. Connelly’s version was the least obvious.
Connelly joined Joel Edgerton and the “Dark Matter” creative team in Hall H, where Apple unveiled the season two trailer ahead of its Aug. 28 premiere. The appearance came during a Comic-Con weekend crowded with major reveals, including Ryan Coogler’s announcement of David Jonsson as the new Black Panther for the franchise’s third film.
