American Airlines has announced a major milestone in its international network, becoming the first US carrier to serve 100 destinations across Latin America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. The achievement will be marked by the launch of new nonstop routes from 
Miami International Airport (MIA) to La Chinita International Airport (MAR) in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and Cap-Haïtien International Airport (CAP) in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti. Together, the new services will expand American’s already extensive network from its Miami hub, which serves as the airline’s primary gateway to the region.
The expansion reflects American Airlines’ continued investment in Latin America and the Caribbean, a market where the carrier has maintained a leading presence for decades. The airline noted that, during the upcoming winter season, its network in the region will be nearly 50% larger than that of its closest US competitor, underscoring Miami’s importance as one of the world’s premier connecting hubs for travel between North America, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
New Service To Maracaibo, Venezuela
American Airlines will launch nonstop service between Miami International Airport and La Chinita International Airport on July 14. The route will operate daily using an Embraer 175, featuring premium cabin offerings and free high-speed Wi-Fi, sponsored by AT&T, providing travelers with a convenient nonstop link between South Florida and Venezuela’s second-largest city. Maracaibo is a major economic center and serves as the gateway to the country’s western region.
The addition comes as American continues rebuilding its presence in Venezuela following the resumption of US-Venezuela commercial air services. With the launch of Maracaibo flights, American will become the only US airline offering nonstop service between the United States and the city, further strengthening its position in the Venezuelan market.
The new route is expected to serve a broad mix of passengers, including business travelers, families visiting relatives, and members of the Venezuelan diaspora living in South Florida. It will also provide improved connectivity through Miami to destinations across the United States, Canada, Europe, and the wider Caribbean network. In the airline’s press release, Chief Commercial Officer, Nat Pieper, said:

American Airlines Returns To Haiti With Cap-Haïtien Flights
On November 1, American Airlines will begin daily nonstop service between Miami International Airport and Cap-Haïtien International Airport. The route will also be operated by a Boeing 737 featuring premium cabin offerings and free high-speed Wi-Fi sponsored by AT&T, offering greater capacity and connectivity than many regional alternatives serving the Caribbean.
The launch marks American’s return to Haiti and makes the carrier the first US airline to announce renewed service to the country during its ongoing recovery period. Cap-Haïtien, located on Haiti’s northern coast, is widely regarded as the country’s cultural capital and is a key gateway to historic and tourist attractions throughout the region.
By restoring service to Haiti, American aims to reconnect communities, support economic activity, and facilitate travel for both leisure and visiting friends and relatives. The route will provide travelers with seamless access to American’s extensive Miami hub, creating additional one-stop connections to destinations across North America and beyond.
